Just a reminder to anyone stitching, or anyone wanting to join us, that the Fruit Smoothie stitchalong starts on Saturday....looking forward to it, still have yet to pick some fabric though!

EDIT: One or two stitchers wanted to join this stitchalong but preferred an alternative to the Smoothie design...the stitchalong will now include any of the similar Blue Ribbon designs if you would like to join us.

I haven't ordered this yet as I keep looking at the christmas one's and now I have seen they have new ones as well,I can't decide,but I will and hopefully I will be able to join you in this.Although I may be a couple of days behind!!

I now remember another reason why I didn't get it,I couldn't find a site that sells them,I can't use 123 as they don't except paypal,any one know of a UK site that sells them

Apparently, though I haven't tried myself, Joanne at 1-2-3 will accept Paypal if you email her. Don't know of a UK site that sells them, I did look around a little, then when I decided to buy the threads as well I just went ahead and ordered from 1-2-3.

eek, falling behind on the stitching a bit! I have been really looking forward to this pattern, but don't really want to start until I finish the blackbird sampler. I am away on a business trip for a few days but will definitely try and get organised and finish off the sampler before Saturday, only have a little bit to go...

I didnt realise that there were different themes, just looked on 1-2-3, and I love the Indian Summer one
So if its OK I might just join you all for the SAL

Yep, I am definitely in! I have been really looking forward to stitching this design.

Will not be starting until Sun/Mon though, as I want to finish off the sampler I am working on. The design is not that big but it has taken me ages to complete as I have been really busy. Will have to make more of an effort to set aside stitching time!

My order took just over a week from 123-stitch.

Rachel, I like that bunny one as well.  Don't really have a use for it at the moment though so will have to resist.

Is everybody stitch on 40 count? or are you using something larger - I have to say I've stitched a dozen stitches or so this morning and hadn't realised quite how small it is.  Still, it looks good and it's all a new experience!

I have ordered a few times from 123 and the quickest has been 5 days which is pretty good coming to Aus, but my current order has taken a few weeks because they are out of stock of some of the threads. Guess it depends if they have everything you ordered, if you email though they are really prompt in answering you back and will give you an update on your order.

I am stitching "fruit smoothie" on a 36ct linen as I ordered a local hand dyed fabric and 36 is the smallest I could go.

I need to finish the backstitch on my cow and stitch a little something for a Mother's Day card, but I will put in some stitches tonight on my Smoothie, even if it is just a token few.

It's an addictive one as you can do one square at a time and get lots of mini finishes.  

Charly - the 40 count is small but it does keep the colours true as you don't see the material through it.

It really is Charly - of course, not much fun for anyone who doesn't enjoy backstitch I wish I had used a slightly darker pink for the thread, as from some angles, the pattern kind of 'blurs' if that makes sense. I really enjoy blackwork and don't do enough of it

I am going to put an hour or two in on my Smoothie tonight though.

I was enjoying it,but I have ran out of the border colour which is making it hard to line up the little motifs,I am going to see if any of the Local needle craft shops are open today ,I might be able to do more of it!!

That's one of the things I enjoy about the stitchalongs, seeing how different people tackle the same/similar designs. as you can see, my own order is a little haphazard....I started on the lettering, skipped to working on one colour, then decided to grid the whole page so I can stitch whatever I feel like without worrying too much about counting!

That is great Johanna,I have done the gridding as it has made it easier to stitch the letters and the motifs,
although I am stitching a RR at the moment which is the Stop and stitch the flowers by Blue ribbon ,the grid on that is already stitched I have to do one lot of square's down and a couple on the far right,

I was just looking at that design this morning Rachael, 'tis pretty, hope you enjoy stitching your part on that. Yes, doing the grid first does make stitching these designs simpler doesn't it? I have had to order more thread for mine, very pricey from Sew and So, but I want to be able to carry on with the gridding soon so didn't want to wait on delivery from 1-2-3 Stitch...besides, a kit fell into my basket at 1-2-3 so I didn't dare check out there!!

Looking good Jo.  Are you using The Gentle Art threads?  Only ask because that's what I'm using but your colours look brighter and stronger.  Just wondered whether it was different thread or different camera

Yes, I am using only Gentle Arts threads.

I think it is a combination - my 'Avocado' does seem more yellow than yours and in the cover pic, but also maybe the green aida I am stitching on, and my scanner settings. I love the colours used in this design...my scanner seems to have washed them out a bit as the fabric is mint green not grey-green like it looks in the pic, the colours used are so vibrant and yummy aren't they?

I am using plain old DMC for mine, I had all the colours(well nearly I had too send for two colours)

My threads arrived this morning - 2 are great, look like a perfect match to my original 'Cherry Wine' - but the 'Avocado' is way different, it doesn't really change colour much whereas my old thread changes from almost yellow, to mid-green. I may have to unpick and restitch couple of the completed letters so I don't have all the greener letters on one page of the pattern, but no big deal, will only take an hour or so. Going to leave it for now anyhow.

Aww Deb, hope it's not too much to do...just about the worst aspect of stitching isn't it?

Cath - ooh, you really don't have far to go...but while yours is on hold, I can catch up a little bit Beautiful! And good luck with the map, at the rate you stitched the first two pics, it won't be long before you are back to the Smoothie!

Have the house to myself today, so will catch up on the stitching I wanted to do at the weekend (if the cats will let me). I finished the gridding on page 3 on Friday, and put in a few green stitches on Saturday:

I feel so far behind after seeing how far you have gotten Jo.  Your Fruit Smoothie is looking great. I got lucky and I only had to pick out 1 full square.  I am off work today I hope to spend it on my Green Thumb Gameboard today.

Deb - glad to hear you didn't have to pick too much out!! And hey, don't worry, it's not a race (if it were, I would lose most of them!! ) - I enjoy seeing the projects at all different stages, and if I give into temptation on the Egyptian piece, mine will stop progressing altogether

Rachael, look forward to seeing more of yours when you get back to it, and in the meantime, I will really enjoy 'oohing' and 'aahing' over the Egyptian piece!!

I can understand why, it's such a beauty!! I hope when I get to it, I will be able to make such good progress!

Those gameboards are all so tempting aren't they? I am going to resist temptation to do any more myself as I have so few finishes, and with the Quaker Gameboard only needing a few evening's work when I finally get back to it, I don't want all my finishes to be too similar

Wow, that looks fantastic Rachael! Everyone's work is really lovely. It is inspiring me to actually finish off my current project and get started on this... have neglected stitching altogether this month.

I am going to call this finished for now - I haven't decided how I will do the border, but will probably add one later on. For now, here is my 'completed' Smoothie:



Will try and get a better pic soon. The fabric is still a bit warped from the frame and the colours are washed out by the flash. I had a lot of fun with this but am now looking forward to moving on to something new (even though I have plenty of other WIPS I could finish....)

It will probably end up in the drawer with the other pieces waiting to be framed I will treat them all to lovely frames one day, when I find a good place for framing

Cushions are certainly a much cheaper option that framing, I'll give you that!! I do look forward to one day just splashing out and getting all of my finishes framed. Only have 4 pieces waiting so far (that's how few my finishes are) - small pieces I will always frame myself in a simple shop bought frame unless it is for a special gift.
